Tips for Successfully Rooting Android Devices

Android smartphone users often find their phones becoming slow or posing limitations due to restrictions or permissions. To resolve this, users can get access to privileged controls, which is also known as root access. The process of getting access to privileged access to system files is known as rooting. The benefit of rooting is the ability to customize appearance and other features without any limitations.

How to root your device?

Before you start the process of rooting it’s absolutely essential to take a back-up of your device. There are two different ways to root android devices, which are

  1. Do it Yourself
  2. Use professional tools

1. Do it yourself

This method requires you to have some technical skills and there is a high risk of your phone becoming defunct or inoperable. You will need to do some research to identify the correct ROM for your phone. The next step is to download the ROM and install it on the device. However, in case of failure you will not get any support or help from the carrier or manufacturer. Given this major risk it’s a good idea to go for other alternatives.

2. Use Professional Tools

This method uses professional software which can select the right ROM and provide user-friendly options. Some tools can be installed with a single click. These tools eliminate the possibility of error and helps in successful rooting for your device.

Steps involved in rooting your device successfully

Since rooting is a critical process, you need to follow certain steps patiently to avoid errors and other issues.

Step 1: Identify the right App

This will require you to identify the correct app for your phone. For example in case of Droid, Milestone or Droid X Easy Root could be considered.

Step2: Download the App from developer’s website

Once you know the right app, visit the developer’s site and download the app. Some apps will be in APK file format that runs on a phone, while others will have zipped files. If you have unzip software on your phone you can unzip it directly, or use a PC for this purpose.

Step 3: Installing the App

In case of an APK file use a file management app to locate the file and start the installation. Follow the installation instructions carefully. Once this process ends the rooting app should appear in the App Drawer. Now you can launch the rooting app.

Step 4: Rooting

When the rooting app is launched click on the root option to start the process. After going past some warning screens you can tap the root button on your app, which will run scripts to alter user permissions. Finally, you will see a screen that confirms that the phone has been rooted.

Step 5: Restarting your phone

This is just the final step to enable root permissions on your phone. Now your phone is rooted and ready to use.

Now that you have a better idea of rooting an Android device you should be in a position to root your Android device and utilize it to its full potential.
